The Energy Check is more than an electricity, gas and water broker

Our service goes much further than you’d expect from an energy broker. Sure, you’re looking to save money on your business utilities contracts by finding a better deal and that’s a big part of what we do. But, we also look carefully at the structure of your current electricity, gas and water supply agreements. The profile of your energy and water consumption, your future utility needs and our low carbon and energy efficiency consultants can help you use and pay less for your utilities.

Electricity, gas and water invoice analysis

It’s amazing what you can learn from a utilities invoice! You’ll be surprised how often suppliers get it wrong. What you pay is made up from a complex set of charges which our energy consultants will examine for you. The most obvious of these are the rate of VAT you’re paying and the Climate Change Levy (CCL).

VAT on business energy is not a fixed rate, reductions apply for small businesses and non-profit organisations such as charities, places of worship and certain kinds of schools. Suppliers don’t always apply the correct rate of VAT. We’ve secured VAT rebates for customers dating back five years!

When it comes to the CCL it could be your organisation is exempt, or you have a Climate Change Agreement (CCA) in place and your supplier is incorrectly applying the full carbon tax.

And if you’re a fan of acronyms then you’ll love the fact that during the energy invoice validation process our energy saving experts will also check you’re being fairly charged for: DUoS, Triads, DUoS & TUoS losses, BSUoS, AAHEDC, Renewable Obligation, Meter Operations and DC!

Agreed Supply Capacity analysis (kVA)

Agreed Supply Capacity analysis (kVA)

Something that most energy brokers overlook is your business’ Agreed Supply Capacity (ASC) which is measured in kVA. This is the amount of energy reserved for your business meter at the substation. It is charged as part of your tariff, and it’s possible that you’re paying too much for it. Our experts analyse your energy consumption to make sure that you’re only being charged for the energy you’re actually using, not for any surplus you don’t need.

Utilities risk management

It can be difficult to keep up with the utilities market. Uncertainties over climate policy, political interventions, and regulatory changes can make this a volatile environment at the best of times.

That’s why we’re here. At The Energy Check we’re experts in energy – it’s all we do all day. We have specialists in place to keep an eye on the energy market and respond to all these changes – ensuring you’re always ahead of the energy curve.
